Monday I had a bad asthma attack so I spent the day drinking fluids and resting.
Tuesday resumed playing Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD Remaster and made it halfway through the Grand Mill Works after a series of cutscenes in town.
Wednesday since I didn't have to wait for cutscenes this time around I finished the Grand Mill Works which leads to even more cutscenes. Plus 2 new jobs Time Magic and Spell Fencer. Spell Fencer is kind of cool being able to put spells on the weapon you attack with but Time Mage is the best. There is regen obviously very useful and Teleport which will replace using teleport stones if I ever need to quickly leave a dungeon. Also the Time Mage has an ability that if you lose a fight you get one redo for that fight before you are considered defeated which is great for tough battles that might need a little reworking of the strategy in use to win. I was pretty excited about getting this job since I can equip it to Agnes the moment she finishes reaching the last level of White Mage.
Thursday played some Dynasty Warriors Origins where I grinded up some money through skirmishes to buy the spear in the store. I gained a few levels and unlocked things on the skill board while doing so. It's a fun break from thinking about battle strategies for the other game since all I have to do really is remember to block against the stronger enemies then I can button mash the attack button. I occasionally throw out a strong attack or use a special but mainly I just smack the enemies around with my sword or spear and I enjoy doing so. I learned this game has 6 endings but I don't think I'll complete it to be honest for me it's just something fun to play when I need a break from playing a long rpg so I'll probably just get one ending for each faction. If I get the true endings then good for me but if it only ends up being a normal ending then that's fine. I don't know the exact requirements for the true endings anyways so I just figure once I get the 3 I do get I'll watch the endings on youtube to see which ones I didn't get. I just have to make a separate save before choosing a faction in Chapter 3 it seems based on what I saw. I didn't read too much so I could avoid any spoilers for the story. Granted I have absolutely no clue what is going on in the story other than the character you play as has memory loss and wants to bring peace to the land by fighting because that somehow makes sense. I don't know I'm going with it the game is fun even if it isn't logical.
Friday more story going in in the Bravely game then a forest filled with miasma which with the ability equipped from freelancer to not be affected by 'dungeon' hazards is utterly harmless to run through. Unfortunately it doesn't prevent having to fight mushroom enemies that like to spawn more mushroom enemies every single turn just to be annoying to deal with. Anyways as the next town it's decided to do the obvious and head to the water shrine after the game shares that now mini games are available in the main game without exiting to the main menu to play them. In fact they give tokens now to buy stuff in a separate shop. I think the tokens are tied to your mini game score so getting better score is more tokens as far as I can understand it. Anyways during the enlightening conversations it seems there is a Dark Knight job class which I totally want and a Valkyrie one which I have no idea what that is making me curious to get it. The game totally teased with the Dark Knight though not even letting me try to fight him and having him just leave. I guess I have to get even further in the game to be able to fight him and get that job class. The only bad thing about not getting job classes early on is if it's worthwhile and I don't get it until late game I'll have to grind... ugh I don't want to have to grind any when I haven't had to do so since the first level grabbing when I first got the characters.
Saturday played more of the Warriors game. I did the cutscenes and main battle to learn about using my eyes to see past sorcery which amounted to climbing ladders and breaking pots. Then I went back to the skirmishes until I could afford the sword in the town shop. I also did 2 of the 3 training missions offered to further my progress in the skill tree. Next time I'm going to check out what this optional mission battle is that is being offered now on the map.
Sunday I decided to tackle the mini games in the Bravely game. I was right the score you get on the mini games unlocks tokens and journal entries that are optional I guess. I did all the rhythm catch ones available and the Normal mode one for the available Ringabell Cruise mini game after doing the tutorial of course. It's kind of difficult for me to play the ship stuff so I'm putting off the Hard and Expert modes on it for now. I'll do them if I ever really need to get tokens. It was enough to get a sword for Tiz so I'm satisfied with that. For anyone who hasn't played a Switch 2 yet and experienced the mouse controls on the Joycon 2 they work very well. I only had to recenter the controllers after I finished the mini game and it was back to navigating the menu again. You do need a fair amount of play space though; you can't just use the edge of a table since you are moving across the entire screen. I personally am using a folding table meant for tv dinners and it works fine. The important thing is having a flat surface to move the controllers on basically. Anyways they read movement immediately and very accurately like say a bluetooth mouse for a computer would. I wasn't sure what to expect going into using them actively like that for a whole hour straight but they do a phenomenally good job. I'm hoping other games think about making them an option to use. I think strategy games could benefit from it and make clicking on a character to get a drop down menu for example or to drag them to a spot on the map. Basically I like the mouse controls and look forward to seeing how other games potentially implement it into their games.
For the free grabs this week first up is PSPlus added Cyberpunk 2077 to its catalogue which is nice but I do own it physically on XBOXOne/Series already. Epic Games Store has Figment 2 which is nice since the first game was available last week they are action adventure puzzle games that I might play at some point, and Sky Racket which is like old shoot 'em up and brick breaker arcade games with a fun spin on it with using a racket to hit the 'ball' or bullets I guess? back at enemies, which I'm not good at that kind of game I can see me playing it for fun sometime. Amazon has some winners for once with Amnesia the Dark Descent a horror puzzle adventure game that I need to play one of these days, Marvel's Midnight Suns which I love playing these games regardless the genre this time around it's a rpg card tactical game that looks pretty fun at least it isn't another random beat 'em up action game like most Marvel games are, and a soccer game I don't care about, and finally the other good one Star Wars Jedi Knight Dark Forces II while I don't know if I have 1 or if I need to play them in order I do want to play this it looks fun even though its outdated with the graphics.
I digitally purchased Deadly Premonition Director's Cut on PC via GOG, I've been wanting to get this game for a while mainly out of curiosity so I didn't want to pay full price. It was on sale for a little over a dollar so I got it.
