Monday I loaded up my save file of Tales of Graces F Remastered and took on the final boss so I could finally see the end of the game. Then of course afterwards I started up the continued story I might as well see that too. So real quick before starting up the Lineage & Legacies from the extras menu my current opinion of the game's story is it ends perfectly. The final scene is adorable and I feel like it did a good job of wrapping up what happens to everyone in little still images during the credits. I did not expect the ending to be what it was and loved that it ended the way it did. Having what feels like a perfectly good happy ending was nice since not enough games end happy. There are many that are open ended and others that are rather sad intentionally. It felt refreshing to see it end on a happy pleasant note. Currently without touching the extra end story content I over all enjoy and recommend the game. I do recommend a guide especially for the dungeons with puzzles in them or you will spend way too long like I did before finally looking things up since some of the puzzles are confusing to figure out especially the ones that affect floors and rooms you are not able to see without wasting time running back and forth. I feel that I can overlook the puzzles though since there aren't many of them and the rest of the game was great. Once I figured out the combat and let the AI help I enjoyed it too. The main game took roughly 52 hours to finish and I did most of the side quests as well. I didn't do a few requests that would require stealing an item from an enemy though I did try when I fought those enemies for other reasons. There is one side quest of optional content that isn't accessible yet until I finish the extra story though and it's a dungeon of some kind basically. Plus the extra story is needed to finish filling out the discoveries and items since there are unique enemies and areas to it. I'm not going for 100% though I'm just doing all the story bits including the optional skits and scenes so I don't think I'll be doing the post extra game dungeon outside of loading up the save to see a skit about the optional dungeon.
Tuesday I made it through the ruins. The puzzle in it is similar to the very first puzzle in the main story so it wasn't hard to figure out. The battles took the longest since they have the party split up. It kind of reminded me of Skies of Arcadia which has an island where this goes on with checkpoints to switch between the two parties in order to get through the dungeon. It was a nice flashback to the past. Anyways the final boss results in a special cutscene to unlock some more abilities to use in battle and then the boss can actually be defeated. Afterwards I made my way back out of the dungeon and out of the Barona catacombs that led there. All of that took a while with the scenes and skits going on since there is story being progressed about the relationship between some of the characters and its funny and kind of cute. I really enjoy it so far. I then fast travel to get a few more skits over in Gralesyde before saving for the day.
Wednesday I resumed traveling around for some skits over in Yu Liberte then Velanik and then finally in Zavhert. With that all done time to head to the Amarcian Enclave in order to continue the storyline. Then the Valkines in the Glacier Ruins before heading back to the Enclave. Next it's back to Yu Liberte for more scenes then off to the Strahta Desert Ruins to go visit the Valkines for the story to progress. Both of the Valkines have similar monster boss fights to what was down the new set of ruins back in Barona's catacombs. With that information it's back to the Enclave to have some more scenes and decide that it's best to go to a spoiler related location. Before that though there are optional skits to go see and a new challenge trial set at the arena that winning gets an optional scene.
Thursday I finally head to the spoiler related area to fight monsters some more. Plus there is the ability to make figure doll like things via dualizing to turn into someone here for titles to unlocked. It's simple enough to do since the monsters have to be fought anyways so I made what I could for now and got some title stuff done then headed to the research lab that the story wants me to go to now. The lab ends with a boss fight and the new villain person reveal for this storyline after which is a literal run back to the entrance in order to escape.
Friday it's time to first explore the place we went after escaping. It is a very confusing area to navigate and I at some point gave in and used an online map to make my way through it so I could move on. I finally got to fight the boss there and then it is time for side skits and cut scenes again. The card collector guy has more gifts too that are well worth a side trip to get. I then traveled to the new dungeon and saved since I'm sure it is like the end one for the main story, 3 sections long full of long fights.
Saturday I made it through the first dungeon section full of lifts and warps that send you in circles. It eventually ends in a battle afterwards the main villain takes off again. I saved in front of the entrance to the next part of the dungeon that should lead to the final boss battle.
Sunday the second half of the final dungeon, the depths as it's called, has a different status effect in battle on each floor which is annoying. There are titles to max out to reduce the effect on these floors to make battles easier and there are equipable accessories that negate the effects but it means changing those on each floor. Luckily there are specific battles and items that undo the effect on each floor as you progress but it is very annoying to deal with meanwhile. The idea is interesting and makes sense even if it does annoy me. Anyways I finished the game got to see credits again. The story was just as good as the main story and is a nice follow up storyline. I really liked how it ended. The only problem I have with Legacies & Lineage is that if you want to complete the game you have to grind some items and go after various scenes and titles only accessible in this extra story. If you are playing for the story though all of it is well worth playing and very enjoyable. I feel it will be in my top 10 at the end of the year maybe even top 5. Final game time was just over 62 hours for me.
Okay if you haven't fled in terror of all my text yet the free games this week. First up is Playstation Plus which had titles I don't recognize so I'm skipping them to go into the ones I do know. Sand Land I definitely plan to play since I love that art style and am curious about the game. I didn't buy it since reviews seem mixed about it either being great or boring so I'll have to see where I fall on the opinion of it. I'm hoping to try to get to it this year but there are already so many titles I want to play I just don't know. Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising is another Granblue title so I want to play it eventually. I have Relink physically on PS5 so I want to play this title as well. It isn't something I've played but the gameplay looks like my kind of fun and I love the way it looks. The title I own is an RPG but the 2 versus titles are action so it's a nice change from playing rpgs all the time. Soul Hackers 2 which I own physically on XBOXSeries. Five Nights at Freddy's Help Wanted from what I know this title isn't like the other FNAF games that were based around conserving battery while checking for the animatronic monsters. I don't really know what you do in it because I kind of quit caring about the series after the 3rd game when I officially was just bored with the jump scares. I've not played the games because jump scares are just unnecessary anxiety that I can do without. Anyways I'll most likely avoid the game since I feel it'll probably still have dumb jump scares in it. Story of Seasons A Wonderful Life is basically a remake of Harvest Moon A Wonderful Life which while I never played it I did play Harvest Moon Back to Nature and I enjoyed it. I don't have any immediate plans for the game but I could see me playing it casually to relax and have some fun playing a cute farming-based game with some social interactions in it. Epic Games Store has Deliver At All Costs, which I guess is an action adventure game not really my kind of game from what I can tell, Gigapocalypse, which I think is trying to be like the Rampage games maybe it just isn't really anything I care about, and Sifu, which I've grabbed before when it was free but still is the only title I'm interested in eventually playing since it's an action martial arts game with a cool system where losing/dying has you get older instead of gaming over or reloading allowing some benefits while also having some consequences. Amazon Prime Gaming has some chess game that I have no intention of getting or playing, Thief II that I will probably play whenever I finally get around to playing through the first game, and Fate which is some RPG I never heard of but will try when I get a chance. Randomly on XBOX the game Metro 2033 Redux for XBOXOne was free digitally so I grabbed it. I forget much about it outside it being a shooter but do remember seeing a video about it once and thinking it might be kind of interesting to play sometime.
